Google Pixel 10 Pro Release Date: All You Need to Know

Google’s annual I/O developer conference in May this year was reserved for the trending tech world topic: artificial intelligence. The event covered everything from Gemini 2.5 advancements to the rollout of AI Mode on Search across the U.S.

Any Android-specific news was announced earlier in the month ahead of Google I/O to ensure AI features took the limelight. This is a new approach for Google, breaking the protocol of their usual launches. 

Will this break impact the upcoming launch of the Pixel 10 Pro and make its release date difficult to predict? In this article, we’ll discuss everything we know so far about Google’s latest premium flagship lineup, including potential launch dates.

When Will the Google Pixel 10 Pro Launch?

The latest additions to Google’s flagship lineup will be previewed at the Made by Google event. This annual showcase at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, launches new Pixel phones and other devices, like the Pixel Buds.

We should get a good look at this year’s models for the first time, including the standard Pixel 10, the Pixel 10 Pro XL, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and, of course, the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel Watch 4 may also be announced, but there aren’t yet any confirmations.

While the 2025 event was originally scheduled for August 13, exactly a year after the announcement of the Pixel 9, rumors suggest that it was later pushed back a week. Instead, it will likely be held on August 20, 2025. 

What is the Full Release Date for the Google Pixel 10 Pro?

Pre-order sales for Pixel phones typically begin on the day they’re announced, and this year is no exception. If the launch event schedule is accurate, customers should be able to place early orders for the Google Pixel 10 Pro from August 20, 2025, straight after Made by Google. Devices will then begin arriving 8 days later on August 28.

The official release date is August 28, which is when the Pixel 10 series will also become available to buy in-store. Google usually releases its new range of Pixel devices some time between August and October, so this date comes as no surprise. 

However, a note inviting 25 Pixel Superfans to the Pixel Penthouse did confuse things for a while. This closed-door event with exclusive merch, interactions with Google Staff, and a preview of “upcoming devices” took place on June 27, previously leading to speculation that the Pixel 10 series could debut earlier than usual — in early July, or even at the end of June.

What Can We Expect from the Google Pixel Pro 10? Key Features & Updates

Our first glimpse of the Google Pixel 10 lineup, including the Pro, came from a recent promotional video on the Made by Google YouTube channel. In the “#BestPhonesForever” video, we see an Apple iPhone and a Google Pixel device joking about their similarities, focused particularly on Apple’s latest AI announcements during the WWDC 2025 conference.

Towards the end, we also get a teaser for the Pixel 10 series. Unfortunately, no specific details on the new Pixel lineup were revealed, but there are plenty of rumors and leaks that give us a potential glimpse into what the Google Pixel 10 Pro could deliver this year.

Design & Display

An ad shoot in Vancouver for the Google Pixel 10 series was captured by photographer Mark Teasdale in May, showing close-up images of what’s thought to be the Pixel 10 Pro. 

These shots show the device’s main body in the signature Obsidian shade, along with a storyboard that displays a camera bar, power button, and volume rocker. The camera bar could add around 3 to 4mm in thickness to the phone, making it just as bulky as (or perhaps even slightly bulkier than!) the 9.

What we’ve seen from the shoot is similar to leaked Pixel 10 Pro CAD renders, which preview the same design as the Pixel 9 Pro. If you’re disappointed, remember the Pixel 9 series saw a significant redesign that was incredibly popular, so huge changes aren’t really necessary this time around.

The new Pro device is likely to keep the 6.3-inch Super Actua display, built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass. It could also feature a variable 60Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, plus an impressive 3000-nit maximum brightness.

Cameras

Rumors suggest that the base Pixel 10 could receive a new Telephoto lens featuring an 11MP zoom, which would bring it more in line with the Pro models. But when it comes to the Pixel 10 Pro, there haven’t yet been any leaked improvements.

This device is likely to keep the curved camera bar from the 9 series, which will house the following lenses:

• 50 MP Main

• 48 MP Telephoto

• 48 MP Ultrawide

• 42 MP Front 

With such a focus on generative AI this year, the Pixel 10 Pro’s camera could benefit from a big boost to its AI-powered photography features, from improved low-light quality to more detailed close-ups.

Performance & Software

Fewer physical design changes mean that performance and software could be the star of the Pixel Pro show this year.

The Pixel 10 Pro will feature the brand-new Tensor G5 chipset. While old Tensor chips, including the Pixel 9’s Tensor G4, were manufactured by Samsung, the G5 is set to be more advanced than ever, thanks to Google’s new partnership with TSMC. Alongside better performance, the system should run smoother with fewer bugs, and camera quality could benefit, too.

Another area of improvement is battery life. Though the Pro will arrive with the same 4700 mAh capacity, the Tensor G5 could facilitate enhanced efficiency. This means a longer-lasting battery, plus potential Qi2 wireless charging compatibility.

As confirmed in Google’s I/O Keynote, the latest Android software is on track for a June release, meaning the Pixel 10 Pro should ship with Android 16 straight from the box. This could also be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Should You Purchase the Google Pixel 10 Pro On Release Day?

The Pixel 9 series is one of Google’s most successful launches yet, with the highest-ever quarterly volumes after release day.  Could the Pixel 10 Pro follow in its footsteps?

If it’s a design overhaul you’re looking for, we’d suggest sticking with the Pixel 9 Pro. New elements from last year’s model, from more contoured edges to a silky matte surface, brought the Pixel’s design closer to that of the iPhone, and will remain this year. 

However, for performance upgrades, the 10 could be a real winner. With a new Tensor chip, better battery life, and a greater focus on AI, the Google Pixel 10 Pro could set an even higher precedent for performance — challenging the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra!
