Samsung Z Flip 7 Release Date: All You Need to Know
The Galaxy S25 series was released in February 2025, marking Samsung’s first flagship release of the year. Features included the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a triple camera system, and plenty of Galaxy AI updates.
It’s been a few months since anything new from the South Korean smartphone giants, but we won’t have to wait much longer. The Samsung Z Flip 7 is expected to be the next addition to Samsung’s catalogue, marking the continuation of the company’s foldable phone range.
A bigger cover screen and even more durable hinge are rumored to feature on this rival to the Google Pixel Fold and Motorola Razr. But when can you enjoy these improvements? And will they be worth the wait?
When Will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Be Announced?
There is currently no confirmed release date. However, rumors and insider leaks mean that we can predict when the Z Flip 7 will be unveiled.
The Z Flip 6 was announced at Samsung’s biannual Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 2024. We expect the Z Flip 7 to follow suit with an early July release, though the actual date could vary, since the Flip 5 didn’t hit the market until July 26 2023.

Early rumors suggest that Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable will be previewed at the second Unpacked event in the first half of July, which will take place in New York. According to multiple reliable sources, mass production is scheduled for May, which fits this timeline well. Both the Flip 7 and Fold 7 have also been certified in South Korea, marking them as safe and ready for launch.
Samsung has also recently scheduled Samsung Health running events for Galaxy wearable users in New York. These events begin on July 13, which could coincide with Unpacked.
Announcements have come earlier and earlier each year, so we could be looking at dates from July 1, excluding weekends and Independence Day. New Z Flip devices are typically announced on Wednesdays, narrowing this window down further to July 2, 9, and 16 — or 13, if the New York Unpacked rumors are true. Pre-orders usually open on announcement day, too.
When Will the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Begin Shipping?
Most Z Flip devices have had around a two-week gap between announcement and release date, offering plenty of time for excitement to build. The Flip 6 was released on July 24, exactly 14 days later, while the previous model had a slightly bigger 16-day delay.
With rumored announcement dates in mind, this pattern means that the Flip 7 is likely to ship somewhere between July 16 and 23.
Will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE Launch At the Same Time?
Flip foldables are typically premium devices and priced on the higher end of the price scale. However, Samsung is making a statement with the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Like the Galaxy S25 Edge or iPhone 16e, this will be a cheaper version of the standard Flip 7.

While the phone was originally rumored, its existence has now been confirmed by a recent NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) certification in Thailand. The device has also already passed India’s BIS and the US FFC certifications, meaning a release date is likely pending.
This could be announced at the same time as the standard model or, like the Edge, teased at the New York Unpacked event and launched later in the year. Some leaks point to the fourth quarter of the year, indicating an October, November, or December release date.
What Can We Expect From the Galaxy Z Flip 7?
Beyond the July release date, we also know (and can predict!) a few features that may make an appearance on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Based on rumors and leaks, here are 5 key updates to Samsung’s latest flip phone:
1. Exynos 2500
All Galaxy S25 devices include the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, Qualcomm’s highest-quality and performance chip yet. However, the Z Flip 7 is expected to revert to its custom-made Exynos chips, which were last seen on Galaxy S22 devices.
Leaked specs reveal that the Exynos 2500, the successor of the 2400 chip, could have a 10-core central processing unit (CPU). These CPU cores are unusually small compared to rival chips, which could either be a big benefit or a huge mistake for Samsung. The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is said to offer improved graphics performance and energy efficiency.
However, the Z Flip 7 could still include the Snapdragon 8 Elite due to rumored manufacturing issues with its in-house chip.
2. Upgraded Battery
One of the biggest upgrades from the Flip 5 to the Flip 6 was its 300mAh boost in battery capacity. The good news is that the Z Flip 7 could get an even bigger battery, marking two significant upgrades in a row!

Rumors point towards a 4300mAh battery size, although we don’t currently know whether the 25W charging speed will be upgraded.
3. Bigger Display
The Z Flip 7 could benefit from a size upgrade, with the outer folding screen increasing slightly from 6.7 to 6.85 inches. Most of these benefits, however, will come from the larger cover display, which could reportedly grow from 3.4 to 4 inches.
The redesign will be facilitated by smaller bezels, offering more room for scrolling, watching videos, and using the device without even opening it!
Like previous generations, rumors also suggest that the crease through the screen’s center could become even less noticeable. The overall design, however, is expected to remain similar to the Flip 6, with clean, flat edges.
4. Camera Setup
Flip phones aren’t known for being the best choice when it comes to photography. Despite this, a new 50MP Main camera was introduced on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, a significant step up from the previous year’s model.
We’re not expecting any more upgrades for the Flip 7, which is likely to feature the following lenses:
-
50MP Main
-
12MP Ultra Wide
-
10MP Selfie
5. Similar Pricing
Last year’s Galaxy Flip saw a $100 price hike, debuting at $1,099. Samsung is thought to be keeping the same pricing strategy, meaning the Z Flip 7 would start at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1219 for 512GB of storage.
Should You Buy the Galaxy Z Flip 7 On Release Day?
If you’ve recently purchased the Galaxy Z Flip 6, an upgrade may not be necessary. There usually aren’t many improvements between generations, so you’re unlikely to benefit hugely from parting with another $1,000+.
However, if you’re a flip phone fan eager to see the upgrades introduced to Samsung’s next generation, we’d definitely recommend investing. Though there aren’t yet many confirmed details, what we do know looks pretty exciting, and leaves plenty of room for some surprises before release day!
